It does not much matter that the Native American and African holocausts that flowed from the feast at Plymouth are hidden from the children’s version of the story – kids learn soon enough that Indians were made scarce and Africans became enslaved. WebThe Pilgrims were aware of cranberries as the Native Americans ate them and used them as a natural dye. And these Native Americans may have brought some cranberries to the feast to share with the colonists. But, cranberries would not have been considered the treat that they are today as part of a Thanksgiving feast.
